Are you a patient person???

I do not have as much patience as I once had… how are you with being patient?

When it comes to traffic… computers and the Internet…your children…people at work…cat’s… mosquitos… some areas I’m guessing you have more patience than others.

I feel like our culture does not help us out at all with being patient… we get whatever we want whenever we want.

I wonder when it comes to God how are your patience? God’s timing (this might shock you) is not always the timing we want. When we pray… are we patient? Or do we want an answer IMMEDIATLEY? Yeah, I am like you… give me the answer now! Wouldn’t it be nice if God answered us or helped us or did exactly what we wanted Him to do  when we wanted Him to do it?

In Psalm 40 David told us that He waited patiently on the Lord… we don’t know exactly what was going on in his life but we know he had to be patient. Check out what the Psalm says…

“I waited and waited and waited for God. At last He looked; finally He listened.  He lifted me out of the ditch, pulled me from deep mud. He stood me up on a solid rock to make sure I wouldn’t slip. He taught me how to sing the latest God-song, praise–song to our God. More and more people are seeing this; they enter the mystery, abandoning themselves to God.” – The Message

I feel like there is a lot of good and learning and growing in the waiting… doesn’t make it easy but it makes it beneficial.  God, in His timing, came through for David in an awesome way.  In the very last part of the third verse is where we see the ultimate reward...when we allow God to work in the waiting, others will see it and be encouraged to put their faith and trust in Jesus.

Let's be people who are patient!

I would say pray about it… BUT that’s a dangerous prayer when you ask God for more patience… I'll leave that decision to you!
