Just A Thought: Press Into Jesus

"My soul yearns for You [O Lord] in the night, yes, my spirit within me seeks You earnestly; for [only] when Your judgments are in the earth will the inhabitants of the world learn righteousness (uprightness and right standing with God.)"  -  Isaiah 26:9

Do you really want to see God? I suppose Christians when asked would you like to “see” God? Most would say “yes.” Human curiosity often wins out over our knowledge of biblical passages such as Hebrews 12:29, which informs us that “our God is a consuming fire.” Never the less we are encouraged to seek God.

Let’s get real practical. If we’re hungry enough, we will get something to eat. And if we can't eat before we leave home, we will go to a drive-thru at a fast-food restaurant. Or we will call a place that delivers food to bring us something to eat.

Mary and I have a sign in our bedroom that reads “in the morning when I rise give me Jesus.” So every morning we are reminded to take Jesus with us into each new day.  I have always thought and still do that those who walk daily with the Lord do so because they have intentionally made room for Him. As I read God’s word I see this as a very aggressive thing much like the need for food. I believe that if we are hungry enough for God, we will find a way into His presence. Jeremiah 29:13;   "You will seek Me and find Me when you seek Me with all your heart."

Christians, we need to get thoroughly dissatisfied with ourselves. Complacency is the deadly enemy of spiritual progress.  The contented soul is the stagnant soul. When speaking of earthly goods Paul could say, "I have learned to be content" (Philippians 4:11); but when referring to his spiritual life he testified, "I press on toward the goal." (3:14)

So we need to aggressively throw our whole soul into our desire for God. "The kingdom of heaven has been forcefully advancing, and forceful men lay hold of it."  - Matthew 11:12   We should be so hungry for the presence of God that we absolutely will not start our day without spending some time with Him. Press hard into Jesus!!!
