Just A Thought: "Let me live that I might praise You"

Psalms 37:4 Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart.

Do you like rules? Do you like to be told how fast you can go? How much you can eat? What you can say? Who you can associate with? Most folks have a tendency to push rules to the limit….and maybe a bit beyond. When I was growing up my dad had a rule that while we were in High School 12:00PM was the hour to be home. In my mind that meant 1:00AM. What I found out was that we who test the limits and risk the consequences find ourselves in difficulties we’d rather not endure. We are the ones who get the tickets, take the Tums, are admonished for our words, and criticized for not following the rules. Yet when we give our lives to Jesus, He gives us new life, new desires and our love for Him compels us to want to live as He lived, to talk as He talked, to walk as He walked, and to love as He loved. We want to live in obedience to His commands.

“Trouble and anguish have found and taken hold of me, yet Your commandments are my delight.” Psalm 119:143

I am so fortunate, so blessed. I have the commandments of the Lord. Knowing them really brings me joy. They guide me and keep me on the right track. I have the promises of God and the assurance of His Word to feed my soul in days ahead. I know Him and I know what He has purposed for me and all those who believe. But what about those who do not know or want to know my Lord? Is there more I can do or say?

So my heart hurts for those without a Savior. I don’t know how they make it in this world. My spirit cries out to the Lord. Let me lead someone to You. Let me be bolder, more assertive, more sensitive to your voice. “Let me live that I might praise You, and lead others to Love and Honor you.”
