It’s that time of the year (FINALLY) where you can venture outside again… and my kids love to play outside… jump on the trampoline, dig holes in the back yard, pull all the toys out of the garage and leave them out, hit baseballs, play catch… all the               fun stuff!  But this year… they have started something new…something unexpected… they have started spying on the neighbors… (Stop judging, like you never look out your window to see what the people next door are doing) it’s funny to watch because they will “hide” in the trees or crawl on the ground… we haven’t told them yet but we let the neighbors know… be careful you are being watched!  Spying is just a more fun way to stare at people, which my kids LOVE to do as well…

This isn’t just a kid thing… we do a lot of watching… Netflix, YouTube, games, Bachelorette, stocks, weather and the list goes on… and on… all those things aren’t bad… (Actually one for sure is) but are we watching the right things?

The Bible tells us we do need to watch… we do need to pay attention… we do need to be aware…

1 Peter 5:8 says: “Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.”

The watching we need to do is far more important than what everyone around us is doing… we need to be watchful of our own lives and what is happening in our heart.  We need to be watching… if we are not we will be in great danger.

So, next time you peek out your window to see what the neighbors are doing let that be a reminder to you that you need to watch what you are doing… maybe you can see that you have been avoiding church… maybe you can see you have not forgiven someone… we have to pay attention! Do give the enemy any ground to move in.
